The basic premise is that women who have affairs are all money grabbers who want to be wined and dined and showered with gifts by these poor pathetic men who need more sex, when in reality a lot of people - both men and women - fall into affairs because something is missing in their marriage or because they fall in love with another person. The author doesn't seem to acknowledge at all that sometimes the woman can be the driving force in wanting an affair, or that women would want an affair for the physical affection rather than because they want to prostitute themselves in exchange for gifts. And the way she talks about overweight women is quite horrific! 5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent introduction to the world of married dating - and extramarital affairs. Though theories are reached mainly through case studies and more commentary and analysis would have been welcome, for anyone contemplating an affair, this book is either a warning or a guide. Take your pick! So far so good. Just into the second chapter I really enjoy the statistics it shows about marriage in different countries. It like the factual/scientific style of it. This book has some merit, but not much. Hakim goes on and on about the same thing, with too many boring real-life examples of people who 'cheat' within relationships. Very disappointing.
