But they don't seem to fill in the blank -- what might the woman be seeking and wanting? Maybe it has something to do with the woman. That was what the question was about: Why do women find older men attractive? Within both women and men there is a psychological drive to connect to an other". There's a need to see the self through what other people do. Other answers are mentioning "maturity." I guess that could be part of the attraction. Sexual attraction and love bonding are something which effects our behavior, etc. What we see is that there are things in men and things in women that we identify with not through identifying them in ourselves, but in other people. Younger men are told very early in life that they must be strong, virile, masculine, aggressive, and NON INTUITIVE, and NOT INTROSPECTIVE. From puberty onward, They don't know themselves and they are encouraged by their culture that avoids this kind of pairing with women. For younger men, bonding with women is about non-intimate sexual use. It's not about self-awareness and love. Women, on the other hand, because they are treated already as an "other" in a male dominated society, tend to be more in tune with that inner and subconscious narrative. They are more aware usually of the inner workings because so much of the world is telling them to avoid it. There's something about women that refuses to let go of this inner dialogue. It could be that younger women who resist being sexualized by culture, and who resist being told what it means to be a woman, are looking to have a mental, emotional and spiritual dialogue with their "other" in the form of a man, Many mature and independent minded women understand that relationships are about 'mutual support and growth' and not following the typical path laid out by the society of find a partner for financial security, have kids and then settle down in a standard life. The same age guys are usually busy partying, working hard or in some cases just being 'male chauvinist pigs'. Many of them have not even cut the emotional 'umbilical cord' from their own family and have not become their own man. How will they support such a woman. They will only try to pull her into the standard life and domesticate her without regard to her dreams and aspirations. So in essence often guys of same age do not have the maturity and outlook to respect an independent woman. They seem to be immature when it comes to relationship and connecting. A man who is 10+ years older has seen life. Most likely matured through experience on relationship front and is willing to be the pillar of support and love that independent minded women needs in the society. An older man is himself independent and secure. A man who is older is past his 'skirt chasing' days and understands that theres more to a woman and relationship than just sex or beauty. This is my experience after having interacted with many young women who are independent minded (and shared their stories with me).and these are just some of the things they tell me (in no particular order). They like a gentleman that opens the car door and the door to the building, and still does it after several years. They recognize it as politeness. They like someone that can take them to dinner and they don't have to pay or split the check. Someone who can even take them on a trip. Not someone rich but not someone who is broke. They like someone who treats them with respect ALL the time and doesn't condescend and doesn't think of them as their biatch. Someone who isn't always rude or crude thinking that suffices as foreplay. They like someone that can talk about something other than doing drugs next weekend and/or how drunk they were last weekend. They like someone who is steady and grounded and not prone to weird mood swings, unfounded jealousies, stupid rantings, drama and vacuous conversations. They like someone who is genuinely interested in them and is willing to mentor, empower and encourage them. They like someone that honestly compliments them and not just about appearance. They like someone that isn't about sex ALL the time. They like someone who is an appreciative, generous and patient lover. They like someone who has a job. They like someone who has wit and humor (not lewd jokes). They like someone who doesn't drink to excess (and drive) or do drugs. They feel safer. They like someone who is comfortable meeting their friends and even their family. And someone who is even comfortable having her meet his family. They like someone that still dresses up for a date and counts it as special. They like someone with whom they have chemistry. It's not about looks or money (luckily for me) it is about feeling comfortable, secure and happy when you are together. Another female shared her opinion which is mentioned below. They usually know what they're doing in a relationship and in bed. their sexual experience can also be one of the major reason. I found they weren't looking for someone to do their laundry, clean up after them, cook for them.
